Rasht- Embroidery, 19th Century

15. Because of its location and climate at the Caspian Sea, Rasht is not ideal for making of carpets and rugs (humidity), but famous for its Embroidery (Rasht- Dusi).
This unique piece from the 19th century is a beautiful example for the virtousic embroidery- craftmanship from Rasht.

10. This rug was published in Hali Magazin Vol. 6 in 1983. Malayer is a provenance in Central Iran, (Hamedan- region).
Look at the beautiful colors, the Lion- huntingscene and the peacocks and the lower alcoves.
